I would get a workbook from the library or bookstore which gives you examples on how to write college personal statements. It is actually asking for your personal opinion about you life and opinions especially about the school you are applying. Usually schools are looking for a special format. You may also look on their website for example.

I think and its been a few years since I had to answer this question, the admissions people are trying, through this question to figure out if you would fit and thrive within their instituition. If it were me, I would look for a quote that best represents you and write why it represents you.
