looking for some new bands to listen to...i like pretty much everything except the dance/techno and rap side of things.
i'm looking for bands that are in the same genres as 30 seconds to mars, him, nightwish, linkin park, matchbox 20, wolfmother.
most of the music that is in the charts right now is too teeny bopper and rap...
hope someone has some good ideas...

You should listen to Jumpsuit Aparatus, arctic monkeys
By the way, I know a website that lists everyweek the newest rock tracks that will hit the charts. Most of the time they are at least 2 months ahead of the charts :)

Try joining Firstlisten.org. They contact you once a month and then you can download songs from new bands. All you have to do is answer the feedback questions about the music.
I don't work for them or something, they've just been the greatest source of new bands to listen to for me outside of Myspace bands.

I like all of the bands that you mentioned. My top 3 favorite bands of all time are AFI, HIM, and My Chemical Romance. You might like Flyleaf too. They're really good. They have a female vocalist but she is a really good singer and she's not afraid to scream. haha. Hope this helps.

I totally recommmend the new My Chemical Romance CD, The Black Parade....defiently, you could also try and get into older rock bands like the clash, ramones, misfits, iron maiden....
