is it loud enough for recording?

Heres the thing. You don't really need a loud amp for playing out or recording. When playing out you should either run a line out to your P.A. system or mic the amp. When recording the same thing happens except that with more volume you get more noise which isn't necessarily noticeable in a live situation.

Always buy an amp for tone, not volume.

a 90-watt amp is plenty loud enough for a club. A 20 25 is good for recording.

Yes, but if you're talking about a tube amp, you may actually want to look for something smaller. If it's solid state, then you can go as high wattage as you want, but with tube amps, you can't really get the best sound out of them without pushing their limits some. Especially for recording, you won't want to have to drive a 90 watt tube amp at it's highest volume.

it should be. i have a 100 watt ampeg bass amp with a 15" speaker, and you could still hear it while my guitar player played through a Marshall half stack
outside.

as for recording, you can run your amp directly to a four track, if you wanted

it all depends on your band mates... i play in a band and both my guitarrists have 120 watt amps.. at shows they put it like on level 7 or 8 so i say it is about 90 wats each... if you are the only guitarrist even better

ya, it should be sufficient enough. if your playing a concert type of show then no definately not. if you are performing for background music at a bar or somethin like that its good. it is good for recording. just try to keep everything else quiet.

Yes, it should be adequate. If not, then you can always mike it into the mixer. It's more than adequate for the studio also. Best of luck to you...........
