Yeah but I guess they arent as common anymore which is a good thing! I mean there is nothing worse than sitting in a room with 20 Johns, 12 Mary's, 15 Davids and 22 Amandas! At least now there's only 2 Johns, 3 Amanda's etc etc. There is more of a variety of names now whick i think is great.

My name is Rebecca, so I guess that they must be. And the five little kids who I babysit for are named Michael, Zachary, Melissa, Samantha, and Christopher.

A lot of people are using newer names too though! I guess it's all up to the parent and what they like!

My sons are Justin, a not so old but not made up unique name, and then Kaden, a more trendy now a days name. My next son, due in March will be Nathaniel, another not so old or new name. I have heard some of the craziest names out there lately...especially on this questions thing, but i have a lot of friends with kids and i have seen and heard some old fashioned but still great ones, and some not so great "trendy" names. It is interesting what people will name their children!

Names I like include James, David, Daniel, Henry, I heard Stacy the other day for a boy. I knew a kid who had a brother named Stacy in Jr High, but I don't remember much about either of them. My sister in law is Rebecca; they were going to name her Melissa, but they didn't like "Missy." She's like 26. I like Hazel for a girl. I'd name her Hazel Lee and call her Haylee, as I absolutely love that name, but I'd also want to give my child a name she could use if she doesn't want to be one of 4 Haylee's in her class.

People name their kids all kinds of things and some like some of the old names. It is a very personal thing. Good to remember that these kids have to live with the names that you give them. I really think it is good to see the particular child and see if the name you have chosen seems to fit the personality that you observe.

Yeah, Those names, are better. We have 3 boys, Sean , Samuel and Aiden, all old names. I guess Sean is the newest name out of the bunch..., but then we got Samuel from the bible, and Aiden is very old Irish name. Irish, or Bible names are what I like. I am pregnant now and if it was going to be a boy we were going to name him Matthew.

Yes, and I am glad of that. My brother and I both have unusual names. When we were children, we were teased, terribly. Now that I'm grown up, no one teases. But then, no one can read my name when they see it printed. And no one can spell it properly, either.

You may notice that I use the nickname "kiwi" here. Not telling anyone my name unless I absolutely have to.

When I had my own children, I named them the most common names I could think of. Wasn't about to let them suffer the way I did!

Alot of people are naming their sons Henry now. I don't like the name, but to each his own. Some people just like the old Traditional names. My sons name is out of the bible. His name is Caleb. I was going to name him Matthew, but my dad talked me out of it. Boy am I glad. Everyone would be calling him Matt.

Well I have 3 daughters whos name are...
Kali(prounced Kaylee) I just loved the spelling of that name. I know I went to school with a few but now there seems to be too many Kaylee's in my daughter's school.
Izabella~ I think that is an old type name but rather kinda new and I love it!
Anna~ Yes that is a old type common name but I thought it was a very cute name and you dont hear that name very often anymore.

I think old type names are slowly coming back one by one.

Check out this web site: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

That site tells you which names have been most popular for every year since 1879 (it's very cool). According to that site, a lot of people still name their kids those "common" names. For instance, in 2005 "John" was the 18th most popular name in the US and "Michael" was #2.
