It's good to learn these things, when I was a kid I learned to knit, sew and cook. I had to take care of myself when I was growing up so I learned everything I needed to know to do that.

Absolutely YES! I was just surfing videos on you tube a few days ago, and one of the ones that popped up was about men and boys knitting, which led to a website of a 32 minute documentary about the surge of interest of males in fiber arts.
I personally prefer crochet, but I've met (on line and real life) plenty of other guys that knit, crochet, spin, etc.

I live in Wisconsin and in our prison systems the men have the opportunity to learn to knit or crochet (as long as they are not violent inmates becuz they can use the needles as weapons). It was founded that knitting relaxes them and helps them concentrate on something good. I've heard that some men continue to knit after being released. They make scarves and blankets. I'm not sure about men that haven't been in prison but I crochet and I can spend hours doing it. It's relaxing and the time flies. My brother helps his wife make beaded jewelry. It a time together thing & he is very creative.

I think more and more men are starting to knit yes. I think it's good. That's one more thing they can teach someone else (a friend, daughter or son, or a grandchild). It keeps the mind active by concentrating on producing something rather than just sitting on ones rearend watching pointless hours of television...

My son wants to start knitting. I think the reason that knitting has gotten so popular is because the yarn that is available is so gosh darn cute anymore.
