I belong to a forum that had one main designer who took signature requests and did most of the graphics for everybody. Now me and some other relatively new members have also started creating our own graphics, avatars, and signatures. I am having a lot of fun doing this.

The thing is, some of these other members have already gotten requests to make signatures also. I have gotten compliments for my graphics from the main designer and other members, but have not gotten any requests.

What can I do to become more visible and noticed as a graphics designer, so that other people will ask me to make signatures for them? I realize that I can do it the direct way by posting a thread stating that I am taking requests, but I prefer not to do that until I have worked on some informal requests from the members and gotten more feedback. I would appreciate advice on how I can "market" myself. Thanks.

Make a thread asking for requests, all there is to it. If people are complementing you on your work, then you shouldn't wait for them to go out of the way to ask you for a favor that you may decline. By starting a thread, people will see that you are willing to take requests, and more likely than not, you'll get them.

I don't have any great experience with graphic arts, however I once frequented a forum with a fairly active graphic arts board, and i get the drift of things.

The best advertising is having a great signature yourself, and maybe add "Taking sig requests: e-mail".

Personally,I have too many people bothering me to do graphic design for them. Forum signatures were always fun to do though.

you just have to have a killer sig and hang out on the site long enough that they get to know you ... maybe look for fresh pasture on a forum that doesnt have anyone with ur skilz ... :)
