All website and doctors say there is little discomfort with the stent and one can carry on normal activity, including sports.

A person I know takes pain killers and says he is still in tremendous pain. Can't do anything but lay in a chair or bed. Says walking even a few steps is painful, let alone doing any physical activity beyond that.

His doc says this is not right, his extended family says he's gold-bricking. A nurse friend says some men just can't handle anything foreign in their penises.

He says he screams when he pees, and is in tremendous pain all other times. This is not his first stent, and the pain is the same each time.

I would appreciate hearing any experiences I can share with my friend to buck him up in coping with his family's anger at his invalidity or that I can use to encourage him to do more, as people are asking him to.

Kidney stones/ureter stones can be VERY painful. I once took care of a friend with this problem. She had kidney stones, and use to pass out while urinating.

He really should get up, and do some type of activity. If not, it will take longer to get better. He should also get off the pain med's that can be very addictive. (If he's in so much pain he must be taking many pain pills, he could already be addicted) which could increase the stones problem, and reduce the effectiveness of the pills.

I wish him luck. (Has he ever taken citric acid? That helps with the stones!)

i had stents following removing of kidney stones 6 events now and every time I chanced on it fairly uncomfortable- a radiating suffering, like i used to be being stabbed in the genital area commonly. oh yeah, every time I urinated with the stent it felt like all people lit a in effective condition between my legs and that i pissed blood clots till the stent was eradicated. my urologist reported that it relatively is greater painful for people who've an abnormally narrow urethra. suffering could be very subjective in any case, and no individual who's experiencing a delightful deal of it is going to could could pay interest to their kinfolk unvalidating their responce to it.

I had a stent in my left ureter...hooked to a hose and a bag, and urinary catheter, hooked to a hose and a bag.......so I had two hoses coming out of my urether. I had a kidney stone that had lodged in my left ureter, and it had to be removed. I didn't feel the stent until they removed it, and it was only uncomfortable for several minutes. With my experience, I would say that he's gold bricking also.

i had stents following removal of kidney stones 6 times now and each time i found it quite uncomfortable- a radiating pain, like i was being stabbed in the genital region repeatedly. oh yeah, each time i urinated with the stent it felt like someone lit a match between my legs and i pissed blood clots until the stent was removed. my urologist said that it is more painful for people who have an abnormally narrow urethra. pain is very subjective anyhow, and no one who is experiencing a great deal of it should have to listen to their loved ones unvalidating their responce to it.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
