First off, do you have a good friend you could talk to & ask what she does? This certainly would make it more personal for you.
Bleeding is normal & sometimes you won't know when you start, that's o.k. too. I would get a calendar & mark down when you start to bleed & stop. Then you can count and have an idea each month when you might begin your cycle again & how long it is.
I did this for many years & it helped me a lot.
If your using a pad, when it is soiled wrap it up in toilet paper & place in the garbage can (@home). When your using a public bathroom, they have a receptacle in the toilet itself.

Wow. LOL, I'll help you.
1.) Pads. Easy! Just open the little plastic thingy, and the pad will stick on it right? Peel it off and stick it on your panties. Then if it has wings peel the plastic or paper off them and stick to the other side. To dispose just throw in the trashcan, NOT THE TOILET! I cannot stress that enough. Not very fun when your toilet overflows!
2.) Don't be scared. All that is happening to your body is that you are ready to be pregnant, but since you haven't had sex and the egg inside you didn't get fertilized it's coming out. And all the nutrients that the baby would have needed are coming out too. It's gross I know, but be happy that you're grown up and can have a baby now. (Well not NOW, please, when you're over 16 lol) Remember to change your pads frequently, and about 5 days before the new month starts put one on. You can never be too careful, since your periods will be iregular for the next year or so. Don't bother with tampons yet, they can get annoying, atleast for me. (Unless your periods are really heavy, tons of blood and stuff.) Oh, and if your periods are heavy and you get jelly-like black things in it, don't freak out! These are blood clots and they are totally normal if they are smaller then a quarter. Hope I helped, good luck =)

It's totally normal, and don't feel awkward or embarassed talking about it. First off, never ever try flushing your pad down the toilet! It will clog the toilet and make a huge embarassing mess. You can, however, flush tampons down the toilet. When you open a new pad, make sure you just keep the wrapper near the toilet, or maybe like in a special drawer or cabinet. After you have used your pad and you wanna get rid of it, put it on top of the wrapper and wrap it back up again, and make sure it is shut all the way! If you have to, tape it shut, then just throw it in the trash can. You should change your pad or tampon every 3 hours or so, and never wear one all day! Lastly, never ever sleep with a tampon in! This could give you T.S.S. (toxic shock syndrome), and you can actually die from it. Don't be confused though! Tampons are fine to wear during the day, when you change them often, but never sleep in them! Always sleep with a pad on. Also, if you are just starting to use tampons, I recommend using Tampax Pearl tampons. They are easy to use, and they are very comfortable. If you don't know how to put a tampon in, read the directions in the box. Make sure when you have your period that you are drinking more than enough water, because you are losing blood when you are on your period! Good luck with these helpful tips and have a happy period!

Never flush your pad or tampon down the toilet. ALWAYS wrap them up before you throw them into the trash. Since you are 12, you should start out using pads.. wait a while before you use tampons sweetie. Your cycle will last around 3-5 days. If you have not started your cycle yet, then the first time you have it, it will probably last a bit longer then that from what I remember.. I wish I could help you out more, but I'm not sure what all you want to know, feel free to IM me if you have more questions.

omg. im going through the same thing! My period is coming soon, i can just tell. Uhm i hope i made you feel better. LOL. I think you just fold your pad, and throw in those little medel boxes or trash cans they have at school. If your at home, fold them and throw them away in your bathroom trashcan. DON'T WORRY! :]
