before electricity was available, they used candles to light the doorways and trees. Some fires started because of that. After electricity was found, we now have the priviledge to light our homes for the season. If you don't like it, don't look at it. I sense that you just don't like the Christmas season at all. That's fine. Don't celebrate then. But we are in America and we all have freedom and right to celebrate our own holy days (holidays).
Many other faiths still use candles or lights to put a glow in their homes.

i takes less electricity to power Christmas lights than to turn the front porch light on at night, so who is more responsible

Well... on Christmas, in my house, we don't use the lights or anything... we use candles. We have a gas oven. The only electric thing we DO use on Christmas would be the Fridge.

Go hug a tree -- in fact, help those of us who have endured multiple hurricanes over 2004-2005 Hurricane Seasons get the ones that were damaged out of our yards ... OOPS -- I doubt you would do any work like that!

because like i said in your previous question...your not paying our bills so there is nothing you can do about it. stop complaining nobody wants to hear your crap. thats like asking why people who use public transportation have to put up with people who drive cars themselves, or why do people who dont smoke have to live in a world with people who do, or why people who do smoke have to do it in places that dont bother people who do? life isnt fair so get over it and move on. complaining isnt going to get you anywhere.
