Because many people simple don't know any better. All we see on the news in regards to the Middle East is Muslim terrorists. Many people see the news only and have no other means of knowing (and yes, some are just plain ignorant). I know better given the fact that I have had interaction with many people from the Middle East - some are Muslim, some are Christian, some are Jewish, etc. My former boss and my current boss (both doctors) are Egyptian and Christian.

You're Chaldean?

Because lots of people are ignorant, and they will assume whatever is easiest for them, possibly to avoid thinking about it too much or simply because it's easier to place people in predisposed groups so you can generalise them and make your life easier by using a 'general' approach to everybody in that group ie. assuming that all Middle-Easteners are Muslim and then assuming that they are all terrorists and crazy people.

Because unfortunately many people in Western nations (esp. in the US) choose to believe the biased crap they see on the news and in movies instead taking the time to actually learn about Islam and the Middle East and its religious diversity.

Don't feel bad they assume that everyone in the USA is Christian.
That we all believe alike and are immoral and hate muslims.
there is 800 Islamic centers in the USA and someone said over a million muslims. Many people of the Jewish faith and all the others. No one is all of anything when you have 300 million people.

Probably for the same reason that you just made a generalization of your own, in the form of an unfair assumption that all "people" who do not behave or understand as you do believe that...

Some...Idiots believe that, and not everyone is an idiot! They just speak more and at great length and louder than those of intelligence who actually know better.

Blame it on poor use of language and grammar.

Say what you mean, and mean what you say!

Why do SOME IDIOTS in the form of SOME PEOPLE miss the fact...

All Americans aren't Christian either.... but the Muslim extremists want a "holy war" with us. Well.... whatever. Everyone has their ignorant moments. The world is a big place and it's hard to know everything. :o)

God Bless,

Sue

I wouldn't worry about it too much

People naturally like to group things, such as geography.

They like order and don't want to think to much about the other side of the world

I don't miss that fact, but that's all we ever hear about, so it's what sticks in our minds.
