Sephora only sends you free samples if you order something from them first, and most of the other companies you can only get samples if you're lucky in the stores. The odd time you might get lucky to get something by emailing the smaller brands like Covergirl and saying you love their products and would like to try a few more.

If you have a Sephora store near you they will give you little samples of anything they have in the store. You just ask them if you can have a sample to try it at home. I do this all the time there.
