I have started a serious relationship and while we haven't had sex yet I know we will soon. My boyfriend has said he always uses condoms and I trust him, but I'm worried about accidents, especially the chance of getting pregnant when we're not actually having sex but engaging in sex-like activities! Is it a good idea to take the pill? Do you still have periods when you take it? I'm abit concerned about messing around with something that's natural. I've never had sex before, and now that i'm going to I want to make the right decisions regarding contaception. Anyone have any advice???

You know, the best advice anyone can give you is to go talk to a doctor about it. Go to Planned Parenthood. It's free, anonymous, confidential, and you can get all the answers you want and more. An unplanned pregnancy can put a serious damper on your day. Don't let it happen when there are so many methods of prevention! As for the condoms, take the initiative and go buy some. If things start getting hot and heavy, YOU can pull a condom out of your purse to use. You don't have to rely on the guy bringing one!

Birth control pills have been in use for many years now, and are a pretty good assurance that you will not get pregnant, nothing other than that though. Sex with your bf still has risks such as STD's, and consider that you will be having sex with everyone else he has been with. Don't do it unless you really want a child by this man. What happens to women can be long term effects after having sex. It can give you diseases that cannot be reversed, a pregnancy with a casual acquaintance can have repercussions that make you infertile and never able to be pregnant later, when you want to. You cannot become pregnant unless the sperm can get into your vagina. You have time to check out your decision before taking the action. Ask yourself if you need to do this, and the answer is probably a no. Re messing around with something that is natural? It is not natural to have sex without considering the cost to you.

The pill is one option just make sure it's your best option. Yes, you still have your periods while on the pill. If you want to stop your periods, think about the depo injection, you have to get an injection every 12 weeks and it's nice because you don't have to worry about taking a pill everyday or running out of your prescription at a bad time. (the number one side effect from depo is no periods, it doesn't mean that you won't have another period, but most women don't) Don't forget that you won't be safe from any STD's unless you are using a condom.

The pill does work but is still not 100%, also it will make you gain some weight. Accidents happen but having sex has it's risks.

The pill is great! Shorter periods that you can predict, less acne, less crampage, no babies.

You will put on a few pounds in water weight but it will go away after a month or two.
