I think you would have to say less than 26,000.

There are too many items to consider.
1-When you say individual you are talking every adult in america.
This includes college students, who usually number into the millions and many are unemployed. YOU are talking about the 2/3 million in the military most with smaller incomes(and a disgrace to our country the small amount they pay our military).
you are also adding all of the part time workers many of whom earn under 15,000 a year, You are talking abouit averageing with them the millions on welfare, and those who are free loaders or on the move and seasonal workers. YOU hav ethousands who work contract labour and rarely give correct labour amounts.
If you think about comparing lawyers, doctors, stock brokers,
and professional business leaders who earn in excess of 5 million a year with factor workers , construction workers, and teachers it cannot bedone fairly. or correctly.

That would make our national salary level about 200,000 a year.
I mean average bill gates, warren buffet, and just a few others would raise the salary level in any state by the thousands. gates make about 600,000 an hour. in sixteen hours he could pay our plant's salary for a week. a plant of 300. averageing 32,000 an hour and that is about average here.

I think wiht all fothe law offs, plant closeures, and such the average is ablkut closer to 20,000 to 26,000

I think the average American has a little something on the side not reported to uncle sam, be it the wife, teen kids or dad - I just see so much hustling these days and for the past 3 - 5 years. I think there is a lot of illegal or at least under the table stuff going on in what used to be "average" middle class families. I believe part of the problem is the incredible competition for jobs such as fast food with illegal aliens and for that reason teens have found other ways and it is destroying their morals, values and ethics. Since schools don't teach those three MOST IMPORTANT items in public schools, teens do not know the meaning or the importance of them. The average is probably around $40,000 but that is not sufficient for a family of 3 or 4. If both parents work then advantages can be given but at what cost to the children unsupervised after school. I know millions are selling "stuff" on ebay and the such for "extra cash." Remember all that stuff grandma had and you did not think "old" stuff was at all interesting? Well, you were wrong. Old stuff is not only made better but it was made in America by artisans and craftsmen who built and designed it better than any of the "new" stuff we buy and discard. You don't have the good stuff to sell, do you? Oh this is depressing. Think of the stolen stuff that ends up on ebay? The lack of morals, values and ethics in play. Gotta go, too depressed right now.
