Given the option, would you choose to be born?

Having experienced life as it is, if you could go back to before you were born, would you choose to be born and go through it all again? By "all", I mean EVERYTHING! No additional knowledge or abilities, all the same...

I would choose: NO because I am an unhappy, unhealthy, deeply troubled person with no family, friends, or stable belief system.

I am almost the exact opposite of you, but I would also choose no. The reason is because I'm so happy with my life, that if it meant losing it, I wouldn't want to do that.

Well, if I were on my deathbed and was about to die anyway, then I suppose I'd choose life. Still, I'm rather attached to the life I live now, including the person I've become over the years.

There's still time for you to make your life better....

I would choose YES because the unborn have no choice. But far more than that I have had a life that has been an amazing adventure.

You say that you are unhappy and other negative things. Some of those can be turned into positives by some minor adjustment. Start with the stable belief system. That is wonderful! Stable belief systems are nothing more than the end of thought and only useful for those people who despise thought.

Having no family is a permanent thing but considering the idiots that most people have as relatives that can be a blessing.

Having no friends is something that you create. If you want friends you have to work very hard at being a friend to others for a very long time. You will always feel that you give far more than you receive in a friendship. But it will help you do something that you didn't mention. Are you a person who cares about others. If you are you need to work on that problem to develop your caring.

Unhealthy can be a problem. You didn't say what was your problem but most any health issue can be improved even in the worse cases.

And unhappy? That is definitely the easiest thing to fix. You need to figure that one all out for yourself. But, since you put the energy into making your post, I suspect that you are further along on solving that problem than you think. You have reached out to others and that is an important start. Others cannot solve your problems for you but they can cheer you own. So, with that, I wish you happy success!

Through the archives of time, I believe somebody said "It is far better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all." The same principles stand here, ultimately it is the experiences in life that we should be thankful for. Anyway, no matter how bad your life is, not being born in the first place would give you neither a good nor bad experience and perhaps a lack of anything. Without being born, you may not exist and be able to to feel anything, thus you wouldn't be able to know how bad your life is about to be. Hypothetically, let's say that you had the choice to be born. During this premature spirit form, if you either had the knowledge of your upcoming life or not, you would have already said yes. So, if you had the choice to be born, you would have taken the opportunity and hence you will take the opportunity if you had to take the chance again.
Confused? I sure am.

Yes all again.
I am sorry you have no family. You can have mine. My youngest childhood memory is witnessing my father tie up and rape my aunt. My turn at 12. When I told my mom she did nothing. Yet. it could be worse. I have no friends to speak of only co-workers.
I am however an adult now and I have survived things most people will only see on TV. Life sucks. Sometimes.
I have a wonderful husband and healthy children I would endure all the burden GOD gave me if I would end up where I am right now. After all I made it through it all once.

P.S. I still don't speak to my dad.

I presume most people would choose No too, I do. But according to buddhism beliefs, we have to be reinacarnated after we die, and the kind of life we reborn into will depend on what we did before we die in this life. Which means while living, we have to work on our karma by doing good deeds no matter what our situation is. That way we will be reborn into a much better situation after we left this life... Confusing? hahaha..!

no. this is a win win situation for r me, b/c if i never lived at all i wouldn't know suffering. now i am suffering. i mean we all do, but personally, i would care about meeting the pp pl i know, experiencing the things i do. i gop i the future this crap pays off somehow. but then again, everything is mental, so life changes from moment to meoment. i almost 4got this. i guesss i would choose yes? no and yes.

well, youre not dead yet, maybe you should pull yourself up by your boot straps and make the best of the time you have. find something that makes you happy, take care of yourself, talk to someone if youre troubled, make your own family and friends if you need that to make you happy, and at least believe in yourself...

Id choose 'yes'. ive been through my fair share of stuff and i realized early on that your life is what you make of it from day one.

although i cant remember my delivery from the body of my mother, i would choose not to be born, but just appear, and go on with life from there. (a lot less mess)

i would choose no too.... i think the world its pointless so as life... if we r gonna die and do nothign with what we learn then what for to go trough all of it... altough love sometimes its worth it.... but... in general it all sucks
