It is an old song. It may even be a folk song. The earliest version I have heard is by Bo Diddley, although he calls it 'Nursery Rhyme'. Aretha Franklin also did a version. The Eminem song borrows lyrics and concept from this song.

An Eminem song. He sang the song a couple of years ago, it was basically a lullaby rap with only one cuss word at the end of the song, with lyrics that go like "I'mma break that birdies neck

a song towrds his daughter, Hailie. To me it mainly states for her to hold on even though its hard for her to go through all of the things between him and his ex-wife Kim. It is also a type of bird that mocks the noises it hears.
