there is such a personality problem that causes men or women to want to be the other sex... sometimes it has to do with the amount of antrogens given at birth or estrogen .. anyways... all you can is support him because this type of operation is very expensive although he can do other things dress wear makeup to make himself seem like the opposite sex until he saves up enough money... all you can really do is be there for him and tell him it's ok to be different ...

You have been given some very good answers above. Another suggestion may be that there are counsellors specifically for people with gender identity issues. Perhaps you could find one or a few, then give him their names and phone numbers. That way you are helping, without doing something for him that he needs to do himself. He should also deal with his depression, which may be related to his identity issue, but it would not be solved by an operation. The depression is a second issue.

Are you entirely sure that he is on the level? You have only been talking to him for a few days, right? Perhaps he is making this up, for some strange reason.

I mean, would you tell a person those things about yourself to a total stranger online so soon after meeting them?

I'm sorry. I guess this isn't really an answer.

Be well.

i agree with michela. this friend of yours needs counselling and fast. dreams or not, the wish to kill oneself is the whole overridding issue here, not his desire for a sex change. as a TGirl myself, i dealt with the depression and other things first BEFORE i even considered undergoing SRS (sexual reassignment surgery for those of you who dont know - in my case it will be MTF). get your friend some help - today if possible.

more than likey there is a root problem, and a cause for this desire, most likely in his childhood. you must try and find out what this is, without being rude or nosey, which is a difficult task, I wish you the best of luck, and If you think I can help anymore please feel free to email me.

If he's prone to suicidal dpressions now, just wait until he has his tallywacker lopped off and tries to pass as a female, the derision of his peers will truly drive him to end it all. sorry but I don't think there's anything you can do for him, he's doomed.
