I personally believe that it was a shame what they had to go through. but unfortunately we all are subject to this treatment if we are a committed person to a country we are at war with. America was at war with Japan, and they blew our base in Hawaii with Kamakazi pilots who had no concern for our lives no more than their own. This is horrible. Knowing this we had no choice at that time. There were not all innocent people in those camps, some were loyal to their emperor. In America we as citizens here are to be faithful and strong enough to endure these prejudisms that infiltrate our environment, but we cant do that so easily. The Arab situation today is a perfect example, we dont know what an ethnic people will do in a case of war? How could we? We cant read minds. We had several hundred thousand of our men and women helping as Americans to save our country as well as other countries. In a world war it becomes chaos and takes too much to risk to leave the ones that clearly may have an issue with our country and government. Japan would have done worse and did to our soldiers, and to other captured hostages, one example was the philipines where they bayonetted babies as well as woman and men. War is hell, and we must survive. Yes it is a shame that we innocent people must suffer but we can only hope and pray that it will end in Freedom for all, that is the American way. We are all foreigners here except for my people the natives, and I hold no grudges, I was not there. But no one ethnic group should occupy and depict what or when we should do with our lives. We cant go to Japan and do that or China for that matter. But if there was a war between us and China they would take us to the street immediately and shoot us because as they stated a bullet is cheaper. And you should know this when the terrorists attacked the WTC. in 9/11 they took only the suspected Arabic people and shot them in the square in a matter of 5 days. I think we did the best we could for that time.

It was indeed an enormous travesty to honest hearted Americans, who were by far innocent of any traitor attitudes. Also it was an easy scapegoat for what-ever reason it was conjured up. You can't go around afraid of any shadow that might exist in any nationality , religion, creed, etc. etc.

It was mostly an act of paranoia. Italians and Germans were interned too.
