in the first one, the one that has no like terms in it is a. 6x-2y+6. in the second one, the one that has no like terms in it is a bit confusing, but i'd hav to say a again -7x-4y+7 and perhaps c. -8y-7. the reason i think both of these dont have like terms in them seems a bit self-explanatory. u cant collect like terms if there's a different letter, like if one is x and another is y, they hav to be the same for it to b considered as a like term. same goes for a single numeral. if it's on it's own, u cant make a like term out of it unless there's another numeral without letters. also, you can collect like terms with a numeral and a fraction. for these reasons, this is why i think both my answers are correct

Well, like terms just have the same kind of variables. So on the first one, it's A, because there's one with an X, one with a Y, and one without a variable. B wouldn't work because it has two Ys, and therefore like terms. The same goes with C and D, because they have like terms. The second one is also A, for the same reason.

1. A
----------------------
2. A
it cant be B, because you can combine 7x and 4x
Also, think of like terms like this:
3x + 1x+ 2y =
xxx + x+ yy ( three xs plus one x plus two ys) =
4x + y
If you had a seperate number with no variable like this:
3x + 7 + 4t =
xxx + 7+ tttt =(Can you add something that isnt the same? No!)
3x + 7 + 4t, which is the same as the question, because nothing can be combined.

I'm learning the same thing, but with exponents! It was confusing at first, but I finally got the hang of it!
