Assuming you have Windows Firewall then it is safe to Uninstall/ Reinstall your Mcafee product but make sure you know your Password for your Mcafee product. Go to
www.mcafee.com and Click Home and Home Office Under Technical Support you will see Install and Uninstall Click Technical Support. In new window Click Choose a product or topic. In drop down menu choose your product. In next new window Click Install& Uninstall. On the right under Hot Topics Click How do i Install or Reinstall my Mcafee product. In new window Click which one of the three is directly related to your product. For example the first one listed is Download Install. Follow the instructions

Please don't use "pc Pittstop". The software program is a rogue program with adware, spyware and traojans.
The only safe way to speed up your pc, is to defrag, use: http://www.ccleaner.com (Known a the crap cleaner). Excellent free cleaner with defaults that you can change, and all languages. Plus free updates. This program is free.
Open My Computer open "C" drive, open Properties, and left click on clean.. The program will clean your system.
Go to IE, open tools, internet options and clean your cookies, history and files.
Open your task manager and see running processes. Perhaps you have to many programs or Mcafee or some other program is eating up all of your resources.
If after you remove programs that are a resource hog and you still require more speed then you will have to update your memory with a new chip.

Yes it is safe to disable McAfee it truly doesn't work any better the Windows Firewall, and yes there is a way to turn of the McAfee Firewall I'm not quite sure how, just open the software and look around at the options you should find it sooner or later, if you can't find it try their website for FAQ's or tutorials.
