okay umm my school has been a COMPETITION squad for about 20 years already and this year we have a new principle and he wants to make it a SPIRIT squad!!!!!!! ahhh! thats horrible we are proffesional dancers not the "cheerleader stereotype" so this really sucks.we always get nationals for him to not let us go to competition.we can only cheer at games or special events .
another problem we hardly ever have any events because he cancellled ALL our dances! we only have a football game and a volleyball game THIS IS NOT FAIR! what can we do?
please DO NOT IGNORE this is important to me and there will problably not be cheerleading next year because he wants to cancel EVERYTHING :(

Have all the cheerleaders talk to their parents and file a complaint with the Board of Education.

okay i was a cheerleader in high school like 2 years ago and i was the co*captain!!!! now I'm on the dance team in my college. well first of all if your a cheerleader then you need to cheer the football players on and pump them up!!!! yes it is fun to do the competitions but your a "cheerleader" so you cheer, not just dance!!! don't you think you could show "school spirit?" and if you still want to go to competitions raise the money yourselves and go!!!! I don't get how that's not fair, and yes we were a good squad, we went to a lot of competitions and got 1st and we also cheered for different sports!!!!!! Because that's what cheerleaders do. you need to be there for your team and your squad!!! now get over it, your still a cheerleader

1) The parents need to get vocal about this, and any community members who are supportive of you as well. Perhaps there are influential alumni who participated on the squad in years past.
2) No hissyfits. I know it hurts but you all need to hold your heads up with grace under fire and show your principal how mature you all are.
3) Keep working on a routine so you have something ready to go if you get the opportunity.
4) Look into the opportunity of not being school sponsored. You'll need to find a source of funding for uniforms and insurance and whatnot, though.
Good luck. I hope you can turn this around.

You and your cheerleading squad go and have a talk with him and let him know how you feel and how cheerleading can benefit the school!! just be honest and ask him if he see a prolbem with cheerleaders!! Tell him high school isnt a highschool with out dances and games and competition!! if that doesnt work sign a petition or go on strike!! whatever you do be care ful and be mature and serious about the situation!! LET HIM KNOW THIS MEANS ALOT!!!!!!

if you really want this: Get the community involved. Get the rest of the school in an upset and maybe write a letter to the principle (each one of the girls on the team) and tell him what it means to you and the school to have the team stay competitive. tell him about how the team is not the usual stereotype. tell him at least he has to let you prove to him that you guys can take care of it yourselves. make sure you can fund it if thats the problem. Also it make help to get a petition going around the school to change it back, also a petition for parents to sign as well.

I think, that if you love cheer/dance alot then you should go do it next year too, but if my principle was canceling our cheer squad i would either talk to him about it and see what he can do and make a deal with him, or just join a different squad. But you are right about cheer being a tough sport, i'd like to see someone geta round-off backhandspring back-tuck. Good luck, at getting to getting more things back :D

Petition the rest of the school about it explaining what you guys do and how important it is. You guys can always cheer at pep rallies and basketball games.
