It will, if America does not learn from history what being a world power means. The more the Americans say "we are the best" the more they will fail. America is a great nation and has, since 1945 (and much more so since the end of the cold war) been given or has taken on, the mantle of the world's policeman. The thing is, you have to understand others to be great. For much of history, England was the world's policeman. Their Empire came about through the desire for trade - not to conquer or instill a system of Government. England gave up their Empire rather than had it taken from them by force of arms. America now has to shoulder a global responsibility but many Americans are unable to understand what that responsibility means and even fewer understand how to police the world other than by throwing money and/ or Marines at the problem. BUT if Americans manage to ammend their "be reasonable, do it my way" approach, then there will be no downfall and they will be truly a great and noble nation.

Seriously people are so dumb. I don't care if they don't like their music, but honestly! They are great role models. Why would people think that raising our youth to admire three boys who actually believe in virtues is going to ruin our nation. If anything it will make it stronger. Anti-Jonas claims that Jonas Brothers fans are unintelligent, obsessive tweens, and then they go and make comments like, "Jonas Brothers are the downfall to America." After all hasn't Anti-Jonas said no one will even remember the Jonas Brothers in a year. If they are so meaningless and unimportant that they will be forgotten in a year, how can they lead an entire nation to it's downfall? It just doesn't make sense.

in the e-commerce age it seems to happen so fast. America ruled the world for half a century and then wasted thier money trying to subdue the ragheads. They should have learned that some people cannot be ruled - the example of Japan is an excellent one. Use the nukes then see if they will reason. Now there are a hundred osamas and the like created every day

Maybe. A lot of Americans seem to take the attitude that they are always right. They want America to deal with the rest of the world with arrogance. These people are fools. They forget what made America great in the first place. America used to take the moral high road. Now we are viewed as being evil. I don't like that. I want to be proud of how my country behaves. If we lose our sense of fairness, we lose our heritage.

I think political corruption and an apathetic public will be the downfall of america. And religious fanaticism, although whether i'm talking about the Mid-West or the Middle East is up to you.

And our dependency on oil.

if in superior you mean the closest thing to equal rights. having a moral compass between right and wrong. then no. it is not a superior attitude to know that mass murder is wrong. that genocide is wrong. that killing your own daughters for riding in a car with a boy she is not married to is wrong. for teaching kids that all others are evil and must be killed is wrong. we might stick our nose where it doesn't belong sometimes but it is not for the wrong reasons. our downfall will be to secularism. this is a christain country like it or not and if this place makes some of you sick, please leave, please leave and go to where you can make a difference since WE AMERICANS are a lost cause. and for those like myself who must be stupid, list all those countries who do not have a superior attitude. right is right, superior attitude or not.

I think it will be the downfall of our nation as we know it...we are changing rapidly...I don't think our founding fathers would recognize the new "Corporate Republic" as what we have here isn't democracy anymore.

It seems to me the less educated and informed our population is, the more arrogant they become. Something has got to change with that.

I teach kids to sing patriotic songs and one stands out...

You're a grand old flag, you're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave!

You're the emblem of, the land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.

Every heart beats true, under red, white and blue.
Where there is...(Get this) "never a boast or brag!"

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye of the grand ole flag!

We do a great deal of bragging. Who wrote that song anyway...what century did they live in???? If there is anything most Americans are NOT...it would be "humble!" We're pretty arrogant...we don't "think" we're number one...we "KNOW" we are! The further we go from being number one, the more we "KNOW" that we are the best. We gotta get our eyes checked! It would be comical if it weren't so sad!

America's superior attitude has been and still is mostly justified. What will be its downfall is if it emphasizes superiority without justification. We all make mistakes, just need to admit them.

There is a very long way before America will be overtaken by another power. But other powers, such as China and India, are pressing really fast forward and the US in a generation's time will not be as powerful as it is now. But that is relative to other powers. The US will be the most powerful country in the worl for at least 40-50 years from now.
