I supported the war at first and still do to an extent. I agree with the idea but not the way in which it was fought. Rumsfeld was an idiot and couldn't see that this could lead to a civil war since Saddam in my eyes kept the country together (with uncouth means of course) by supressing the whole sunni v. shite animosity. Strength in numbers is still a good strategy ESPECIALLY when your liberating a whole country.

So my best reason against the war (in how it was fought) was that Rumsfeld was over confident in our resources. We may be a powerful country but we aren't a well prepared country for taking freedom abroad. The only way I see that a people can be free is if they fight for it themselves. The fantasy that america is the big white horse ready to save the day is false for now, but not impossible in the future. Perhaps we need these failures to show ourselves how to do it right.

the strongest arguments are many but they seem to revolve around the facts that the war was based on lies, there was not WMD's and Saddam had no ties to terrorist neither in aid or training sites. We are reviled all around the world now for invading without the sanction of the world community and the facts are we have done far worse in the country killed more civilians than Saddam ever did in his reign and of course this makes for a great campaign for recruitement for the terrorist. They have fought for over 1400 years against one another and we have not a clue how to stop let alone how to secure the country. Those are but a few as i stated but they seem to be the most important ones.

The strongest argument against war in Iraq is that the U.S.A. doesn't understand the culture.....the Sunni/Shiite conflict has been going on for 1400 years - and it's now developed into a civil war, thanks to the U.S. intervention.
The Bush administration is clueless as to what is unique about the Iraqi culture, and we've illegally and unconstitutionally invaded that country for only one reason: OIL. -RKO-
