But also keep in mind that usually the ticket itself is unavailable as evidence in court(it is hearsay) and thus the police men has to testify.
However if the officer is dead -- one of the exceptions will apply -- i.e. "hearsay might be admitted if the witness is unavailable". Thus the ticket may be introduced as evidence against you. For most judges it will probably be enough to convict.

No your ticket was already written. It's actually pretty difficult to overturn your ticket in the court. The court normally sides with the police department.

i dont know how it is everywhere but in cook county where i live, if the police officer does not show up at your court date, the ticket is dropped
