Every year I trim 2 inches off the bottom and water it faithfully, but still within a couple of days it stops sucking up the water and dries up. Help!

do you put it in a bucket of water and let it set for about a day before you decorate it because if you don't that may be what is going wrong; outside of that just go buy an artificial one that way you don't have to worry about it dying.

You will save a lot in the long run if you just buy a nice artificial. It doesn't smell as good, but it's much easier to put up and most even come pre-lit, so no more tangled light strands... Good luck finding a real tree with that feature... LOL. I have had an artificial for the last three years, and got a real one again this year, and it's already (one week later) dropping needles like crazy... We are undoubtedly going fake again next year...

You put the tree-saving solution they hand out in the water? Make sure you put it in water right away after you cut the stump off. Let it sit for a couple of days before you put the lights and heavy decorations on it.

Just get an artificial tree. They look pretty much the same; they just dont make a mess and die on you and stuff.

Don't cut one down. Buy a potted tree if you must have a live one in your home, or consider going artificial.

Get an Italian Pine with a good root ball, keep it evenly moist then after the holidays plant it in your yard or donate it to a park for them to plant.

Try a Noble fir, They are grown at a higher elevation so they go dormant earlier and retain their needles longer.

You need to cut an inch off the butt everyday if you really do not want it to die.
