I do. I love it. I have 4 periods a year. It's just as safe for a 17 year old as it is for a 26 year old. It's especially good if you suffer from really heavy periods and cramps, or endometriosis.
When I do get around to having a period, it's so light that I just need a panty liner for three days - not even enough to fill a tampon.
Talk to your doctor about it, they'll find the one that is right for you. You might have to try a few brands before you find one that suits your body - and you need to try each one for at least 3 months, though 6 is better. So you might spend the next year and a half finding a good one. It can be a bit of a hassle, but once you have found the right one, it's great!

The continuous use of birth control pills (skipping the placebo pills and starting the next pack) will keep you from having your period, This can be done with most type of BC pills.I have done it for a few years and it is not a special type of pill. Your OB can advise on which type would be best for you if you decide to take this route. There have been no known studies that say this is harmful. What is recommended is that you allow yourself to have a period once every three months. The advantages to taking BC pills this way is that it helps stop hormonal changes that are the cause of cramping, headaches, and any number of other discomforts we suffer during our period. It would be best to consult your Dr. on whether this is advisable at your age,(you have to consult a Dr. to get the perscription written in such a way that the pills will be filled the way they should be) for some girls your age it would be advantageous as their periods are so erratic, heavy bleeding, lots of cramping etc. There is no proof that being on BC makes it more difficult for a women to conceive when she stops using the pill.

No, many women do this just because they do not like the inconvienience. Skipping periods for say your wedding or honeymoon on the odd occasion is alright but doing it constantly might not be. There has not been enough long term studies to show whether or not this could have negative effects. Definitely dont start doing it at 17.

I worry about that pill because even on the pill there is a small chance you can get pregnant. The problem with missing a period is that you could be pregnant and not know it. I think it's a great idea for someone who is not sexually active. Then you have nothing to worry about.

There is a type of bc pill that allows you to have four periods a year, but at 16-17 years old your cycle is regulating and it may cause it to never be regular if you start trying to trick it early on. Its up to you but you may want to go to see your gynocologist and ask.

with any birth control pill if you take them daily without stopping for the seven days you are supposed to come on your period then you won't have a period. If you are on a 28 day pack then on day 22 (sugar pills) start a new pack. If on a 21 day pack then on day 22 start a new pack.

Most birth control pills makes your period lighter and shorter.
women who gets menstruation cycle on their life and are sexually active recommended to take one.
Only your physician know what is best for you depends on your hormonal condition, physique, etc. Because there is so many different brand with different active ingredients on it, so I suggest you to go to your doctor and get checked up and have him/her prescribed you one.
Good luck! :))
