You bet!!! It's the exact same thing with movies. The only thing is that the songs have an advantage over the movies because some of the songs actually have very catchy beats and tunes that get stuck in your head. So most of the time, even if you hate the lyrics of a song (which most of them have a reason for you to hate them) you'll be singing the song for the whole day because of the tune.

No...not at all. And, AFI doesn't give you cancer, no music does that. And they don't suck balls either, they rock. She said classics, anyways...back to your question.
No, everybody has a different style, therefore a different taste. We are all brought up differently, if brought up at all. Lifes a hard place, some of the people out there don't know it, and some never will...so that can broaden your senses. But, everything now that you hear is mainstream...which is popular...and since teens are the people who listen to radios, and watch MTV and VH1, it's all about sex and junk like that. Why do you think the majority of it is black rapper guys and women just about naked? Cause guys like it, and girls want to know what they like. Maybe thats a reason some people are changing to rock...it's not sex, money, one night stands, and more sex and money. It's deeper, more pure, and wayyyyyyy better.
But it basically goes back to your own opionions...try writting your own music, getting a label, recording it, leasing it, selling it, and then see how it goes. Then...maybe you'll have alittle more room to talk about people and their music and why YOU think it sucks.

"She can't tell me that all of the love songs have been written,
'cause she's never been in love with you before."

What better way to prove your point about songs than quoting some lyrics, right? That was from Lisa Loeb's "Sandalwood" by the way.

All songs are a matter of taste. And one of the best ways to appreciate new songs is to break out from what you are used to. Explore a new genre; etc.

Yes there is
but unfortunately
all of everyones time and talent
is being wasted on untalented sluts
like Brittany Spears,Pussycat Dolls,ect.
and on hip hop/rap
along with the posers who think they r punk
sum it all up This era just lost alot of its signs of actuall original talent

No not ALL music. But dont listen to AFI they give you cancer....and they suck balls.

Chart music at the moment sucks, because pop music never reinvents itself, it stays just as crap through all the years!!

it sucks because all the newest song writers fill it up with profanity.
but i see where your coming from. yeah, subjects do get full to base a song off of but there are endless possiblities of HOW to say it.
but you do have a point.

i guess there is alot of good music around now but the media always pushes sex appeal and how you look as opposed to actual talent and originality
