The clouded leopard is considered "vunerable" by the IUCN. It is not extinct but is at risk of becoming extinct.

The clouded leopard is a medium sized cat that is close to the ancestry of the roaring cats. It is classified in its own genus, and it lacks the roaring adaptations of the big cats in the genus Panthera. There are 4-5 species in the genus Panthera; the leopard, jaguar, lion and tiger are traditionally included. The snow leopard, which is a close relative of the tiger according to molecular data, but it does not roar, even though it has some but not all of the roaring adaptations, was classified in its own genus by some but it is now considered a member of Panthera by others. Personally, I believe the snow leopard should be included in Panthera. The clouded leopard is likely the direct ancestor of the leopard but the clouded leopard is much smaller in size.
