No it is not right to take property away from a person in order to kiss a developers butt. There are several cities throughout the U.S. that have done this. Put yourself in a families position where they have had acres of land and a developer tells the city they would end up getting more revenue if they let them getting for far less than what it is worth.

Not if you ask the people that made our government. The founders believed that life, liberty and property were the essential rights of every man and woman in Creation, and that protecting those rights, not violating them, was and is the first and main responsibility of a good government. How things change.

Apparently it doesn't matter what I think - or you - the Supreme Court and your local governments think it's just fine.
And, just because it might create a larger cash cow for the local coffers doesn't make it necessarily a better use of the property - just a bigger contributor to the spend happy politicians.
Great example of democracy, eh?
