Strange.. a baby cow and a baby whale are both called "calf". I guess they ran out of words for babies so they reused some.

Baby rabbits are called bunnies (bunny singular). I have never heard them being called kittens.

Because tthey ran out of ingenious names somewhere around naming a baby goat a kid!
