Just incase any of you were wondering. I'm not gay! I'm happily married to a man. I asked this question because my husband's ex-wife is gay. Her and her girlfriend are raising my husband's son. So I just wanted to know some poeple's personal experiences and thier oppions. Thanks!

I am assuming part of what you are wondering is if gay parents produce gay children. The answer is no. Seeing as how straight parents can have gay children, I think the opposite is also correct. My dad was raised by a lesbian mom and a gay dad, and no, no problems there!

Trust me on this one: Any parent can traumatize a child's life. A good loving family will not traumatize a child. An abusive dysfunctional family will traumatize a child every time, and those tend to be mostly heterosexually oriented.

the right-wing conservative homophobes would have you think so, but that's all ignorant generalizing and stereotyping. being a bad parent (straight or gay) will traumatize a child. sexual orientation has nothing to do with it. I have many gay/lesbian friends who have kids who are very happy, healthy and well-adjusted. I know more straight couples whose kids have been traumatized by divorce, custody battles and abuse than anything.

I don't know but I do know that lots and lots of straight parents can traumatize a child's life. I don't think gay parents are anymore likely to mess up their kids than straight parents are.

No, I don't think so. I know gay couples who have children and their children are fine and are no different then their peers!!!!!!!!!!
I know a lot of kids who grew up in traditional homes that have many more problem then the kids raised in non traditional homes. I think that gay parents are more committed to own relationship and for the care of their children.

I just think tha being ok is fine but when you have kids you should be careful because If you have to lesbian parents the child might become to fenimine and hate all other men and if a child has two male gay parents they might become too masculin and hate women. So I suggest that if you are gay don't have kids unless your going to explain to them about their opposite sex depending on the sex of your parents.

But on average, heterosexuals are MUCH worse than gays. You have to worry about them a lot more. Straight men are disporportinally more violent than us.
