How do you determine the sex of a turtle?

Sometimes you can tell by looking at their tummy...Males tend to have a more concave tummy than females to help them during mating. Their are other ways like the shape of the tail, etc. Not always easy. We have 7 box turtles in a huge outdoor habitat and one tiny baby that hatched from our turtles this spring.

the males tend to have a prettier coloring to attract the females, and larger claws to battle it out with the other males that want a certain female

the females have bigger tails and smaller claws.
the males have smaller tails and longer claws.
also the males tend to be brighter and prettier.
