Does anyone remember Lolo Ferrari? She was best known for regular appearances on Channel 4's Eurotrash, in the 1990s. Lolo, billed as "the world's largest breasts", had 22 enlargements to create her 54J bust. This was a Guinness world record.

Lolo had severe body dysmorhpia: "I love the feeling of general anesthetic—falling into this black hole and knowing I'm being altered. All this stuff has been because I can't stand life...there are moments when I disconnect totally from reality. Then I can swallow pills, throw myself out of windows. Dying seems very easy then."

Lolo died at the age of 37 in 2000. Allegedly this was suicide.

What did you think of the woman? Was she a laughing stock, a tragic figure, or did you just feel sorry for her?

Born Eve Valois in 1963, Ferrari grew up in a middle-class family in the resort town of La Baule. Her husband Eric Vigne, whom she met when she was 17, masterminded her transition into a cruelly inflated doll - although Ferrari always said she was happy with her ever-changing body because it helped her escape a deeply unhappy childhood.

Her mammoth breasts, designed by an aircraft engineer, held three litres of surgical serum each. She had difficulty breathing, could not sleep on her stomach or back, and was afraid of flying because she thought they might explode.

Vigne was arrested on suspician of Lolo's muder in 2002 but was subsequently released without charge.

Its very sad really. I pity the poor woman.Having a plastic surgeon for a husband, he just moulded her to his own desires, its disgusting. It was even considered that he played a part in her death but investigations by police proved nothing.

Police did discover that Vigne had already recruited two potential Lolo-replacements, sisters whom he dubbed the Silicone Girls, had paid for a series of painful operations to inflate their breasts to absurd proportions, and had launched them on a tour of downmarket clubs in places as far afield as Ukraine.

The latest revelations, while providing no conclusive proof that Vigne did away with his wife, are further evidence of the living nightmare in which Lolo Ferrari found herself trapped in the months before her death.

He has always denied any part in her death, pointing out that the former porn star, who under his direction underwent more than 30 different surgical operations to transform her body into that of a cruelly inflated doll, was "the goose that laid my golden eggs".

nice man

I remember her. I watched a documentary about her a few years back, and I just felt very sorry for her. She was a pretty girl who was manipulated and turned into a grotesque freakshow by her svengali-like husband. It's sad that people will go to such lengths, but there are plenty like her - perhaps not to such extremes, but media-monsters like Jodie Marsh and Jordan are doing pretty much the same thing.

I remember her well. It was sad - she turned herself from a person to a caricature just because of a disorder. I myself am dysmorphic (to a much lesser extent) and I think she could have done a lot more in this world if people had given her better support for her condition (and before somebody makes a joke I don't mean a better bra).
