The traditional answer:
A warm blooded animal regulates its own body temperature, whereas a cold blooded animal assumes the temperature of its surroundings.

In reality, most animals are neither warm blooded nor cold blooded, but fall somewhere in-between.

Warm-blooded means that an animal's temperature is the same constantly regardless what the temperature it is in its environment. The only animals that are warm-blooded are mammals and birds and a vry few species of sharks, including the great white shark.

Cold-blooded means it's body temperature is same as it's environment. If the environment gets too hot, so does the body and if it gets too cold, the body does also. Rest of the animal kingdom are cold-blooded.
