You should definitely go see your gynecologist either way. You're supposed to go to a doctor for your first yeast infection, so they can test to make sure and then after that you'll know how to recognize them. You can also ask them to test you for STDs but most likely they'll know just by looking. It does sound like you have a yeast infection, but it's best to go to the doctor this time. Next time (if there is one) you can just go straight to the over-the-counter treatments. Also, your gyno can give you tips on how to prevent yeast infections in the future.
Other things to look for: If there is a yeast-y smell, you have a yeast infection. If the discharge is some other color than white/clear/pale yellow, you probably have an STD. (However, some STDs do have white discharge, so this isn't 100%.)

This is most likely a yeast infection. They can get pretty gross/painful. If you have reason to belive you may have an STD, it wouldn't hurt to get yourself checked out, but I think your symtoms sound like a yeast infection. Either use over the counter meds such as Caenasten on Monestat, or go to the doctor and get a perscription for a pill you take once and will clear it up in a matter of days. It may help to use both the pill and over the counter creams, if you are in a lot of pain. Good luck!

Sounds like a bad yeast infection. Try an over-the-counter remedy like Monistat. Only if it doesn't improve within a couple of days should you even think about it being anything else. In the meanwhile, try to prevent a recurrence by wearing cotton panties rather than synthetic, and going without panties at night, being sure to dry throughly after bathing, and try eating at least 1/2 cup of yougurt per day (the kind that states it has active cultures). You might also try to limit your intake of breads and other 'yeast-y' foods.

That can also be the symptoms of genital herpes. Do you feel achy, feverish or feel a numbness/tingly in your legs or buttocks? I would suggest getting an OTC med for yeast infections. If you don't get relief almost immediately, I would go to your ob/gyn.
Good Luck!

It could be yeast, a STD or other things as well....the only way to know for sure is a culture.

The only way to really know is to get checked out by a gyno.
sounds like the symptoms of one. you could buy monostat one and if it doesn't go away in three days time, then it is one.
