I have to do a short story for school. My story is gonna be about a man who wakes up in a small cave behind a waterfall. I might make the cave in the middle of the cliff.

I need suggestions for obstacles or how to end it.

Well, an obvious obstacle would be getting out. Or figuring out where he is, how he got there, why is he there? I'd need to know a bit about before that to really give any answers, like maybe he was drowning and a mermaid saved him?

Maybe he's afraid to go outside? Maybe he burns easily?
What does he eat for breakfast?
What year is this set in?
Is there another way out?
Is he bored? Is he alone?
Is he afraid of bats? He could get rabies and stagger out like a madman & die?
Maybe he's been asleep for a century & is woken for a purpose.
Does he know this? Who reminds him why he's here?

You could make it more real by putting some rocks in your pillow tonight and describe how it feels to wake up with a pain in the neck : )
