If you're into building model kits, you could represent some scene out of some battle. Maybe include some maps, copies of newspaper clippings from your local library.

I can recommend the book "We were soldiers once, and young" written by Lt. Gen Hal Moore. You may have seen the movie by Mel Gibson. Or you may be too young for it. It puts you right there, where kids of 20 years had to become men right before dieing, not even sure why they were fighting.
