If the Yankees do win the world series it will be because of there pitching and their ability to buy what ever they need. If Randy can stay healthy, and Muissina is as good as he can be that is a tough 1-2 punch and if Wang has another year like he did this year that is a tough 1,2,3 and nobody in the AL more than likely could match that in a series. As for offense with Sheffield gone they will be down a little but i wouldn't be surprised if they make a big mid season deal to add some power that will but them over the top for the world series.

The Yankees will win the World Series this season. I say this every year, and every year I believe it more than the next because the urgency gets greater every year. This year is slightly different, however, in that the Yankees aren't throwing away the youth for over-the-hill players getting paid way more than they deserve. Cano and Melky were catalysts last season and are only going to get better, and finally the Boss and Cashman are realizing that we don't have to buy the Sheffields (we should have gotten Vlad that season anyway), Kevin Browns, etc. to compete. We got rid of Sheff's contract for a couple of young pitchers, and even if none of them works out I just like dumping salary for once. The key is an offseason addition to the rotation - I would love Roy Oswalt, but would settle for Zito (sad that I would settle for probably one of the 3 best pitching free agents, but neither of them is particularly old or injury prone or poor character guys). The Yanks now look terrible for letting Lilly go too, as he's one of the more sought-after LHPs available. But with our offense and the inevitable A-Rod resurgence, plus Jeter getting the MVP award that he deserved this year (sorry Morneau but it's true) and the pitching staff picking it up, there won't be a repeat of this season's October disaster.

Man Georgie im sick of your little Yankees haven't wont in the 21st century bull sh!t. Man give it up Tigers havent won in 2 decades. I agree they may not win this year for this simple reason, they have no role players. Im a huge Yankees fan but i still think their rotation needs help. You don't know about Pavano, Johnson, or this new asian. That leaves Moose and Wang to anchor the staff. I believe their best chance to win is to end up bring Philip Hughes up and Humberto Sanchez, both can end up being aces. In 2008 however they will be like the tigers of this year, loaded with young aces. In 08 there rotation could look somthing like this: Wang, Mussina, Hughes, Sanchez, and the asian guy (not trying to sound racist or anything, i just dont know his name lol). Also, Abreu's contract will be up and they will be able to put in home grown Melky Cabrera in. If you want to go even further down the road when Damon's contract is up they will have Jose Tabata who right now is 17 or 18 years old and has shown he can be the next great Yankees centerfielder. And Georgie notice they aren't going out spending millions of dollars and are cutting their payroll and getting rid of cancers like Sheffield and getting pitchers that could already be in the majors this year. So Georgie, for you to say Yankees won't anytime soon you obviously have been cramming your head too far up the Tigers a$$ to realize that other teams have minor league talent of their own. And it is pretty easy to get good prospects when you have a top 5 picks in the draft 10 years in a row.

The Yankees win because they are the Yankees. They are the premier team every because they have the best talent in the majors. I feel their pitching will be better this year. Mussina is coming back, Wang is only getting better, Johnson is the best lefty ever, and when we sign Zito and trade for Willis that rotation is going to dominate every teams offense. As far as our offense it is the best in the majors. A-rod will not embarrass himself again ever. The rest of the team is solid. There is no other team that is going to be close. The road to the world series will go thru New York and end in New York with the Yankees being crowned World Champs.

Where do I start. Well they still will have the best line up in baseball.
They bull pen will be strong again this year. I feel the starting pitching is still a little bit of a question mark. But if they can get a healthy Andy Petite back. They will have a very strong rotation. I think Randy Johnson has one big year in him. Wang is going to continue his greatness. Mussina is always a safe bet. I feel Cashman will fill any holes that need to be filled. Joe Torre is the cherry on top of the Yankees sundae. He holds that team together like no other manager can. God help us when he is gone.
Yes this is the year of championship # 27. Let's Go Yankees !!!!

The Yankees are going to acquire some healthy starting pitchers if they even want to think about winning the World Series next year. They have a shot and they'll probably make the playoffs, but I don't think they'll win the Series.

The Yankees will win the World Series for Two reasons.
1. A-Rod is going to dominate and silence all of the critics.
2. The Twins will not have Francisco Liriano, so they will have a tough time beating the yankees.

The Yankees will NOT win the World Series for lack of pitching.

The winner of the World Series next year will not be the New York Yankees. They are going downhill. A National League Team will win next year.

The Yankees are going to win because they are the best, they have been on a slump, but they have released some players, and saved some money, and they can recruit younger talents who will become stars, we still have Joe Torre, the Red Sox are not so hot.
