It is true that there is blame to share. Because if people did not buy the products then companies would be out of business. However the products being sold do have an addictive quality to them. Cigerates give people a chemically altered and fake happy feeling. And people want to be happy so they smoke more and more. Also they have to smoke more and more to keep being the same happiness becasue it alters dopamine receptors.
As for sugar companies they do sell a product that tastes really good and is addictive. Sugar itself is needed inside of our bodies and a little sugar every once in a while will not hurt. However too much sugar causes health problems so I guess we should educate people more. This is being done with anit-ciggarette ads but more should be done so that the consumers who are making the choice know what choice they are making.

We cannot assume that a specific person or group is responsible for cigarettes and how it is affecting our society. However, we can blame cigarette companies for distributing such a dreadful drug. We can also blame smokers for smoking cigarettes and getting themselves all blacked up inside.
It is not really anybody's fault now, is it?
Warning shwarning! Some smokers are so messed up they can't read the warning.

The point is that the companies LIED for decades. Not that they sell cigarettes. When a doctor is on TV telling you what brand they smoke, that is misleading.

I smoke so people get paid their wages in the tobacco industry. I am simply saving the employees in the industry at the cost of my own health.

well, its half and half, you need to blame the companies/makers of it,at the same time, you need to blame the people for making that wrong choice. It is very neutral, and they both equaly deserve the blame.

Companies can sell whatever they please. People are in control of their own lives. It takes self-discipline to over come the urge to intake anything in large amounts...

The people who buy the stuff are responsible-- if no one bought it, it would no longer exist.
