A gift basket filled with an assortment of teas and tea cookies, and fancy chocolates, possibly with a pretty teacup and saucer...

Or, a gift basket filled with bath oil beads, scented soap, a scented candle and a soft facecloth...I love reading in the bathtub.

Or, a book journal: A book specifically to record books one reads, with places to include quotes and comments.

Or, a gift certificate to her favorite bookstore.

Everyone knows they can never go wrong by gifting me with gift cards to book stores. These are all-occasion gifts that I really look forward to and hope that more than one person has the same idea!

For a small gift, a bookmark can be special. You can make one yourself any number of ways, or you can buy them inexpensively - or expensively. Some bookmarks even make collector's items and will increase in value. You can buy antique bookmarks, or specialty ones (Narnia, or those with Harry Potter or Star Trek on them.

Beautifully embroidered book markers with gold plated tassel holders or a book rest so that they could prop the book hands free and read---if they like the classics, a first edition or reproduction in a beautifully bound leather with their name embossed on the cover.

This should be obvious...a gift certificate to a book store....cause like art, you can't pick out someone else's taste in books.

I don't know about your MIL, but I LOVE getting gift cards to my favorite book store. One of the joys of books is perusing book stores to find one.
