Someone who cares more about you than them self, loyal, doesn't talk about you or your family behind your back, can be trusted with your secrets, doesn't try to control you or your behavior, likes who you are, not what you can get for them.

Another quality that makes a person a good friends is when you click with someone. A lot of people are honest, nice, loyal, etc. -which all make them good people, but when a person is a good friend, there is something else there that can't be so easily described. It is the difference between a good friend & a nice acquaintance. Why are you asking?

The good qualities of being or make a person a good friend is when you know that the person has your back, they are always behind you when you are in a uncomfortable situation, they lift up your spirits when you are down, they are a good listener, they will speak their minds and give you their opinions on things.

To me a good friend is one who may disapprove but never judges you. He or she accepts you as you are and does not try to change you. It goes without saying that loyalty and sincerity are also must have qualities.

if they are kind to YOU, don't make fun of you, they aren't afriad to tell the truth like, "No offence, but your top is kinda dorky." that is ok, and really, if they are kind harted....
