There are many myths surrounding pregnancy. I did a search on this subject and found a good website explaining some myths of pregnancy. This about arms over your head causing the umbilical cord to tangle is a medical myth. http://www.intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSIHW000/35320/35323/412440.html?d=dmtHMSContent#umb

It's a myth. Your arms aren't connected to the baby's umbilical cord.

Yes it is true. My daughter had the umbilical cord around her neck twice. So just be careful how you stretch, it's ok to stretch but don't stretch as far as you can. Just do little ones.

No, that is not true. I am on baby number two and I have never heard of this myth before. I raised my hands over my head and my babies are fine.

Its just a myth probably made up to make sure the mother gets enough rest and doesnt go around exerting herself by hanging out clothes to dry or cleaning windows, etc.

That's nothing but a myth. The chance of the baby's umbilical cord getting wrapped around them is very slim and raising your arms won't make that chance any higher.

I think that if you are raising your ars like really stretching them after you get over sis mths it could hurt the baby because there's not a hole lot of room left for the baby to stretch its self and if it is a big baby then there is not much room left in the mothers stomach .

No, it's a myth. Mostly Nordic in origin, but a myth all the same.
