An HSG does not determine why you ovulate late in your cycle. An HSG test is where a doctor will inject dye into your cervix where it is pushed into your falopian tubes and uterous. During the proceedure you will lay on an exray table while the doctors watch the flow of the dye. This proceedure is done to check for blockage in the fallopian tubes. If your tubes are blocked, then sperm may not be able to get through properly.
Befor I had mine done, I researched alot, and on a few message boards and in article reference, some women who had the proceedure done did get pregnant right away. Doctors contribute this to the the dye acting as a "cleaner" that pushes out small debris that could get in the way of the natural travel of sperm. The precentage of this is VERY LOW.
If you have a blockage, your doctor will most likely preform a laproscopy. If you don't have a blockage, then you're one step closer to finding out why you are having problems TTC. I personally had no blockages,so the doctor looked into a hormone problem and sperm egg compatability.
Good luck, and lots of baby dust to you.
PS. You may want to ask your doctor if you can take anything prior to the proceedure. I had cramping during and after the proceedure (althought others I know, had no pain at all)

I had an HSG done after a year of TTC. The test immediately showed that both tubes were blocked. The dr said to stop TTC and referred us to a IVF dr. She said there was no way I could get pg. The IVF dr said the same thing. Unexplained infertility. Even though I had aleady had 2 kids. A few months later we were a few days away from starting our IVF appts and I found out I was pg. A different IVF dr told me that sometimes the HSG can clear out the tubes just enough that you can get pg. We were shocked but so excited !! Good luck!

Everything Kristi says is correct and good advice. I didnt get pregnant after having mine, but my doc did say it was possible.
And I to would also recommend taking motrin or some thing about 1/2 an hour before hand. I didnt have cramping right after, but I did later that night, and honestly it was the worst cramps I had ever had. I have bad cramps as it is.. like violently ill, and puts me in the bed for a few days. But my cramps I had from the HSG test were far worse than them. Which is very uncommon but it still happens.
Best of luck to you and your future baby making!

I had an HSG during fertility treatments and I was given the impression that all they were doing was checking to see if I was ovulating so that they could schedule an intrauterine fertilization at the ideal time in my cycle.
I would guess your doctor is just confirming whether or not his theory is correct about the timing of your ovulation.
I did get pregnant after that first fertilization treatment, but I don't think it was because of the HSG.
Good luck to you!

i'm sorry, sunny days, that the two your tubes are blocked :( Infertility sucks. i had an HSG final month and grow to be pronounced that certainly one of my tuibes is blocked on the proximal (uterus) end. i've got in view that seen my representative who has booked me in for a lap and dye as my uterus grow to be additionally displaced to the left, a demonstration of a threat adhesions. i'm going for IVF in September if this would not paintings I asked her approximately selective tube canalation, whish is the place they make a pathway during the tube. She mentioned that this might only be seen if the two my tubes have been blocked. i think this is a few thing that it particularly is particularly helpful to evaluate. IVF is the different determination. desire you get your solutions x
