It was supposed to be from head to waist, but they ran out of money so it's only a bunch of heads. I think someone should finish it. Don't you?

Wouldn't it take away from the mystique of the mountain? I think keeping just the busts of the presidents maintains a bit of an aura about the place.

Anyways, the sculptor would have to actually add material to make sure that Teddy Roosevelt's gut is accurately depicted.

It should be smoothed off and forgotten . Mt Rushmore 's monument is situated in the Black Hills a sacred place to the native tribes. In no way a sick mind could conceive a bigger insult to the native culture. And I find those faces small and overrated. The whole thing, including the nasty parking lots is a wound open in a beautiful place. A total shame.

I don't think so. It has been this way for so long, there is no point in changing what is well-known. Mount Rushmore is fine the way it is, from head to waist would be too elaborate, anyway.

The Fed already spends lots of money just to maintain the carvings and the park.... even stone erodes... there's no point wasting more money on something destined to become rubble.

The monument is suffering with erosion problems now. It would be even worse if the scuptures were extended.

No, it's cool the way it is. If they would quit telling everyone it wasn't done, no one would know. Would we repaint a DaVinci or Michealangelo if we found out their work wasn't done?

Now that would be good use of our tax dollars. NOT!!
There are far more important things then that. Besides it looks good the way it is.
