Most of the castle is composed of computer-generated graphics, especially the panoramic shots.
However, there are some aspects of an existing castle in the Harry Potter films. The Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, England has been used for some footage in the film.
If you're looking for the intact castle, you won't find it. There are some parts of Hogwarts that actually exist. I hope this information helps.

Since Harry was not brought up in a proper way, he goofed off with Ron most of the time instead of spending time with Hermione at Hogwarts. Ginny may have slipped Harry a love potion, or else Harry wouldn't be kissing her without thinking when she threw her arms around him.

So, there is a real castle that is used in the movies to visually represent Hogwarts.
However, Hogwarts is a completely fictional school...Not real...Made up in the imagination of JK Rowling.

The "bones" of Hogwarts castle is an Abbey in England, but editors have added bits and towers and such to it with computer graphics to make it look more like a castle.

Have you ever been to london? I'm presuming NO, as this is a stupid assumption, because london is dirty and crowded and doesn't have enough room for a huge castle AND a forest AND a mountain AND a lake.
sorry if that sounds rude. Not trying to be.
The exterior shots of the castle in the movie are computer generated.
However, the Great Hall and the forbidden forest are filmed in a castle in scotland (north of England, in case you are slow), as are outside scenes and a few of the classrooms.

I seriously doubt it is real. However, J K Rowling may have based it on an actual castle.

From The Prisoner of Askaban on, the school is all CGI. The interior shots are mostly sets.
