1. DIY picture frame. They have very cheap 1.00 ones at Walmart, or Michaels, then add a personal touch...shells, fall leaves, beads, or words that remind you of the person, or find a short quote. Metallic pens always work well!

2. Here is a really simple one...get a coloured glass bottle from any craft store (I like to find ones with corks) They run you anywhere from 1.00 to 10.00. You can get paint markers, or just ribbon. Write a message to your friend, roll up the paper really tight and put it in the bottle. It's simple and thoughtful.

3. Also, for less crafty, get some cheap baskets, or wine bags (Walmart craft section) and fill them with travel size lotions and soaps, make comfort bags or baskets.

4. If you or your friends are into baking, yahoo "cookie mix in a jar recipe." Buy some mason (glass jam jars) they sell them at craft stores and Walmart. Buy a little fabric and ribbon. Make up the jars, cut out some squares from the fabric, put it on top of the lid and tie a bow on it.

You can always make a card and then put something like a candy bar on it with ribbons tied around it. A home-made gift always shows that you care. Or decorate an ornament with the persons name on them. You can go to Hobby Lobby or Micheals and buy a whole bunch of cheap crafts that can work as gifts. Throw on some candy or a something small and you have a great gift.

Candles are always wonderful gifts. Or try gift cards. Or better yet, get a number of the gift certificates from different little restaurants and create little gift bags with a mixture of the certificates for each friend.

Get some coffee cans and some magazines. Theme each can according to your friends likes. Colleage the pictures you cut out of the magazines on the can. Paint some mod podge over the pictures to seal. Cut a slit in the top for a cool and unique piggy bank.

With all of the "dollar" stores, it is easy to find inexpensive gifts for friends! Try to personalize your gift for friends by getting them something that reminds you of some special or funny event you have shared together. Even a hand made poster with pictures of those special/funny times along with "words" written or clipped from magazines, etc. describing them and how you feel about them....sounds corny, but something hand made or personalized is cool because it lets your friend really know how you feel about them.

You can get them each a coffee house gift card for $10. You spend $40 and they get 3 coffees or treats each without having to spend any money! It's a gift that keeps on giving.

Often times I will get something, and then make a production out of giving it. One year I gave everyone a "button" that had a saying on it, and then said why it was perfect for them.
I gave a boss a feather and a rock once, told him to fly but stay connected. He almost cried. Think what they mean to you, and then how to symbolize it, and then write it and give it to them in the written piece and tell them.

Give someone a gift certificate from yourself; i.e. help with childcare, lawn, other for a specified period of time (45 minutes, 1 hour). Those of us with small children really appreciate those kinds of things.
