The answer is the quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides) found in the Rockies. All of the trees across an entire mountain can be sprouts from the roots of a single tree and share a connected root structure, making them technically the same organism having a biomass of millions of kilograms. These are also the oldest living organisms, with some groves estimated to be over 80,000 years old.

The largest living creature on earth at this time is either the blue whale or humpback whale.

The blue whale - believed to be the largest animal that has ever inhabited the planet. 30 meters long, 175 tons - that's larger than any known dinosaur.

That quaking aspen may be considerably larger than a blue whale, but it doesn't qualify as a "creature."
