Sunderland was the last team from North East of ENGLAND to win the old First Division back in 1936. they have also won it in 1892, 1893, 1895, 1902 & 1913. Newcastle United is the other team to have won the old First Division when they won it in 1905, 1907, 1909 & 1927.
