Whoever said that there isn't a good brand of make up for our darker skin tones is absolutely wrong. (I think it was the first answerer.) There is good make up for anyone, regardless of skin color.
I am currently using L'Oréal True Match Make Up. It works perfectly, and blends really well with dark skin. There are also a lot more choices for darker skin colors, compared to other popular brands like CoverGirl and Maybelline New York. I definitely suggest you try L'Oréal True Match. If you have a hard time picking the right color, all of the places that sell True Match have a transparent color swatch card that has all of the shades on it. Put the back of your hand under the card and see which color blends in with your skin tone the best. That's what worked for me.
You can also check out www.lorealparisusa.com with more information on choosing the right color.

Good luck!

The best thing to do is go get your makeup custom blended from a professional makeup artist. I prefer Mineralogie, a mineral-based makeup. It can be custom blended not just to your skin tone, but ingredients can be added to make it more matte, or dewy, or slightly shimmery, too! Also, it can be applied with different brushes for a light to full coverage. It can be made with colour modifiers to balance out redness or sallowness, as well!

Right now I'm using Almay's Smart Shade foundation in light/medium. It comes out of the tube white with small beads of color in it, so as you spread it on it changes color. It's more like a tinted mosturizer, though. If you need more coverage, I think it's best to find samples in the drugstore or visit a makeup counter.

Clinique and mac have a large selection of different shades to match your skintone. I use to work for clinique and love it! Almosts all of their foundations have no oil so they don't clog your pores and make u break out.. and they are good for sensitive skin. Ask a consultant to help you find the right shade and formula best for u. Mac is good too, but most of their products have oil in them, so it might make u break out.
Also, I would suggest having a consutant put on the foundation at the department store and go outside in natural light to make sure it is the right color(department stores don't have the best lighting)
good luck!

Ohmigosh, I completly understand how you feel. I could not find my perfect match for the life of me! I still can't find a concealer that matches my tone. But, I finally found a perfect foundation for me, in my shade! Try CoverGirl's trublend collection. They have mineral, liquid and pressed powders. I suggest only buying make up at Walmart, because if you end up buying one, you can return it in exchange for another shade. Especially since make up is so hard to find your perfect shade. So, CoverGirl, Tru-Blend, Walmart. :D You'll enjoy it!

If you can afford to, go to a makeup counter in a department store and get a makeover. I suggest Bobbi Brown for women of color. They tend to do a more natural look and they have a variety of foundation formulas to choose from.

Mary Kay foundation has colors to match most skin tones, just go to www.marykay.com to find a consultant in your area, they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee so if you don't like it you can return it for a different shade so you aren't stuck with something you don't like or get your money back.

You should get MAC. On of the makeup artist will actually try the makeup on you to find the right shade.

Depending on your skin tone, the make-up you choose will need to flatter your face and hair. If you apply the wrong colours, you’re not doing yourself a favour -- and you can look all washed out, or overdone. Play up your features with the best make-up colours, tints and hues for your skin tone.
Make-up for Fair Skin
If you’re fair-skinned, sheer colours look best on you. Apply light earth tones and soft pastels, such as blue and lavender to accent your eyes.
Various shades of pink will look good on your eyes, cheeks and lips. Keep your mascara to brown or brown/black. Light, sheer lipstick adds a finishing touch. Peach is always a good choice for our fair-skinned friends, it looks natural and compliments your skin colour.
Medium Toned Skin
Your warmer completion gives you many options for a fabulous makeover. Being “in-between” does have its benefits. Deep matter earth tones and jewel colours such as hunter green, dark grey, beige and brown will accent your eyes. Coral and plumb colours work good to accentuate your cheekbones.
Experiment with your lip colour. Your skin tone is very versatile and if you’re brunette, anything from pink to red will look great on you. Top it off with lip gloss for extra staying power. Bronzing powder dusted over your forehead, nose and cheeks will give you the ultimate sun-kissed look.
Make-up for Dark Skin
You may need a heavier hand when applying make-up to dark skin -- but you need to choose the right shades. For eye shadow, gray, brown and natural shades will compliment your eyes. Also try shimmer colours such as silver, bronze, and terra-cotta. Experiment with mascara colours such as navy and dark purple.
For blush, more pigment for darker skin is a must. Deep rose and apricot shades highlight your cheekbones beautifully. Sometimes, a bronze highlighter does the trick. Stay away from anything with a strong orange base as this will not flatter your skin.
Dark lip colour such as apricot, blackberry, caramel and red will compliment your lips.
Olive and Ethnic Skin Tones
With your darker skin tone, neutral shades as well as dark purple and blue will look great on your eyes. Metallic colours also look remarkable, as long as the shades remain darker.
Highlight your cheekbones with bronzing powder, dark plum, chestnut, or terra-cotta blush. Keep the tones natural and avoid anything too light.
Lipstick shades that will bring out your lips are berry, plum, russet, or almond. Avoid “true” reds, they will clash with your skin tone.

I would suggest a bronzer because with a bronzer it can never be really too dark or too light. Use meybelline whipped matte mousse bronzer, its amazing and as long as it is semi-close to your color, its going to look beautiful! GL
