I doubt it. It possibly could, but the games are probably meant to be played using your upper body and not moving your lower body that much. I don't have a Wii but a PS2, and I play Dance Dance Revolution. You move around a lot. Very fun and gives you a moderate workout. Of course, I fool around trying to beat songs on Standard mode and tire myself out.

while most people will not play their Wii like they way u see it in the TV comericals.. if you choose to stand and exagerate the movements yes you could quite possibaly loose weight while playing.. but as for the avegare gamer who will probaly sit while the game they most likely will not loose any weight

perhaps..any type of active movement is helpful to keep your body in shape to maintain blood flow! Think of it as a tae-bo-aerobic-entertainment exercise all in one :-)
