I did,I started off with beer progressed to using what ever drug that was current in my community ( The Ghetto) To name a few, THC, angeldust, 3 types of acid, blues, black beauties, hash, heroin, doriden with codiene. its easier to name what I didnt use,and that would be crystal meth and mushrooms (we didnt have those in the Ghetto) I never had methodone either, the dope addicts used it or sold it before returning to the community after their daily visit to the drug clinic. From 1973 to 1987I was high. I always had to have reefer to supplement the drugs . Some drugs went good with beer Then came freebased cocaine, in 8 months it took every thing out of me and everything else away from me save a partime job, and my 5 kids, I needed to do something with my time so I got another job, When Igot paid Ispent every dollar down to any amount less than 20$ that would be all I needed to get started.A few times I got high because some of my get high buddies would come around. I was really tired of that lifestyle, but the desire was still at work in me. So I mixed the cooked up coke with reefer and smoked it in a joint. Freebased cocaine DEMANDS that you get more RIGHT NOW but the reefer would slow down the urge long enough that Id have a chance to talk myself out of it. My mother who didnt believe in God and was a avid reader once told me that the Bible was one of the best books she ever read if you read it like a story.Like herI also read.So to take up some more of the free timeI had I started to read the Bible. Now when ever any one approached me and saw what I was reading they would apologize left me alone thinking I had become a Christian (I had not ).I got as far as Exodus .In a little more than a month I began to think clearly I always thought that JUST SAY NO was garbage its not. saying it worked for me. I became quite proud of myself so at the end of each day Id go to the mirror pat myself on the back give and give me a kiss. I didnt need rehab Iknow Im fortunate. Some do. Oh! by the way Ive been a born again Christian for 9 years.

Find something else to do in life to occupy their time. I've heard people that are alcoholics can't just quit though because they will die, so they have to go through some form of rehab.
